Microsoft today announced its next-generation gaming console Xbox One X at E3. The console was codenamed Project Scorpio earlier, and now it has been officially named as the Xbox One X. The previous consoles, Xbox One and Xbox One S will continue to sell.

Xbox One X will launch on November 7 globally, and the price is being set at $499. The Indian launch price of the Xbox One X will vary depending on import duties and the prevailing exchange rates. A simple currency conversion currently points to a price point of Rs.32,000 so one can expect a price tag of at least Rs.45,000 at launch.

Existing accessories will still be compatible with the Xbox One X, including games. Previous games are likely to look and feel better with the high-end specifications on the new console.

Xbox One X packs a punch with over 6 teraflops of graphics (compared to 4.2 teraflops on PS4 Pro). The gaming console uses a custom GPU that’s clocked at 1172MHz. The Xbox One X also ships with an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive that will enable users to play 4K movies, and it also comes with 1TB of storage.

Xbox One X Specifications:

  • 2.3GHz custom CPU, 8-cores
  • 12GB GDDR5 RAM
  • 1TB hard drive
  • 4K UHD Blu-ray disc drive
  • 8.4lbs

According to Microsoft, the new Xbox One X is one of its most compact designs ever. The first bunch of games to ship with the Xbox One X shall be Forza Motorsport 7, apart from other launch exclusives such as Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, and others.

There’s no official word on when the Xbox One X will launch in India. We are expecting Microsoft to bring the console here by the end of this year itself. Considering this is a premium gaming console, many customers in India will instead wish for a deeper discount on the Xbox On and Xbox One S in India.
