Jio employees have already started testing the JioPhone. The so called feature phone will be available to select users in the beta phase, the same way Jio’s network launched. These users are expected to test out the JioPhone and based on their feedback, the company will iron out a few initial kinks before rolling out the device to general users.
JioPhone promises to bring a host of new features at an attractive price tag of zero (effective after security deposit refund). The feature phone can help customers access the internet on Jio’s advanced 4G LTE network, connect with users using apps and even mirror content to a TV using a cable (sold separately).
As of now, a small number of offline retailers have started taking bookings for the JioPhone. The official bookings (both online and offline) for the JioPhone will start from August 24 only. According to a report by Gadgets 360, users can book a JioPhone by submitting their KYC documents while the payment of Rs.1,500 security deposit can be made at the time of picking up the JioPhone from the retailer.
