Reliance Jio launched the first 4G feature phone from the company last month which has been named as the ‘JioPhone’. The smartphone was launched last month, but the phone was not available for sale at the launch day. Reliance had announced that the JioPhone will be in its testing phase from August 15 and the pre-orders of the phone will start from August 24.

As far as the beta testing of the JioPhone is concerned, it was available to the Reliance employees only and now the phone will be available for general public as well. However, do note that the phone can be pre-ordered today whereas the phone will be available in September for those who have pre-ordered the phone today.

In terms of company’s plans for the delivery of JioPhone, Reliance has announced that the company will ship about 5 million handsets of the JioPhone every week starting September. In terms of the availability of the JioPhone, the handset will be available to those who have pre-ordered the earliest in a first-come-first-serve basis.

The users can pre-order the JioPhone via both offline as well as online channels where the phone will be available to pre-order from Jio’s official website online.

JioPhone Specifications

Talking about the specifications, the JioPhone comes with 2.4-inch display powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM. The JioPhone runs the KAI operating system preloaded with many Reliance Jio apps like JioCinema, JioMusic, JioTV and JioXpressNews and many other apps for social messaging.

Connectivity options on the JioPhone include NFC for digital payments and WiFi support. JioPhone comes with 4GB internal storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. The JioPhone has a battery capacity of 2000mAh to power the device. The JioPhone also features a 2-megapixel rear camera and the front camera on the phone is a 0.3-megapixel shooter.

How to pre-order the JioPhone

As mentioned earlier, the JioPhone will be available for pre-order starting today, August 24 from 5:30 pm IST. The JioPhone can be pre-ordered from both the offline and online channels. In terms of online options, the phone can be pre-ordered from Jio.com and MyJio app. If you want to pre-order the JioPhone offline, you can visit any authorized Reliance Jio retailers to pre-order the phone today.

If you want to pre-order the JioPhone from MyJio app, you can have to open the app and you will see a card which says ‘Introducing JioPhone’. Below that will be an option to pre-order the device, just tap on it and you will be asked your phone number and pin code of your area. Once entered, you will receive a confirmation SMS from Reliance Jio with the booking id which can be found in the app as well. Later, you will have to show this booking id to any Reliance Jio authorized retailer to get your JioPhone.

Pricing and Availability details of the JioPhone

The JioPhone will be available for pre-order for a price of Rs. 500 when the phone has been pre-ordered by the customer. The actual pricing of the smartphone is Rs. 1500 which is also a ‘refundable deposit’ which means that the phone is ‘technically free’. The remaining Rs. 1000 for the phone will have to paid by the customer once the phone is available for delivery. Reliance says that the JioPhone will be available to the users who have pre-ordered the phone starting September on a priority basis.
