Samsung has finally unveiled its much-awaited flagship smartphone in its Note series after the company released its flagship smartphone from the Galaxy series which is the Galaxy S8 and the S8+. The latest smartphone in the Galaxy Note series from Samsung is the Galaxy Note 8.
The Galaxy Note 8 is also the successor to the Galaxy Note 5 as the company had to recall the Galaxy Note 7 which was announced last year after the smartphone had some faulty battery components which made the smartphone to explode. Now that the company has made the Galaxy Note 8 official, let’s have a look at the specifications and features of the latest flagship phone from Samsung.
Looking at the design of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the smartphone comes with square corners rather than the rounded ones as seen on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ from the company. The display is similar to the one seen on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ which sports minimal bezels which Samsung calls as ‘Infinity Display’.
Looking at the specifications of the display, the Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED edge-to-edge display with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and a resolution of 1440x2960p. The smartphone comes with the latest flagship processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835 chipset same as the one found on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The Galaxy Note 8 is powered by 6GB of RAM and the smartphone comes with 64GB of internal storage.
Apart from that, the Galaxy Note 8 also comes with waterproofing as the smartphone is IP68-certified. Other than that, the smartphone has a 3.5-mm headphone jack and comes with USB-C port for charging. The smartphone runs on the latest version of Android, Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the company’s trademark skin, TouchWiz UI. On the Galaxy Note 8, the TouchWiz UI is updated which adds various features compatible with the S-pen present on the smartphone.
Talking about the other highlighting feature of the smartphone which is its camera, the smartphone becomes the first flagship handset from the company to feature a Dual rear camera setup. Talking about the camera setup, the Galaxy Note 8 has 12MP+12MP cameras.
The first camera on the Galaxy Note 8 is similar to the one present on the Galaxy S8/S8+ which is a f/1.7 aperture lens with dual-pixel autofocus and optical image stabilization. The Galaxy Note 8′ second camera is a telephoto lens which can give up to 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom for better portrait shots.
On the front of the smartphone is an 8MP camera with autofocus and f/1.7 aperture. The smartphone is priced at $950 in the US with the pre-orders starting in the country from August 24.
Availability and Pricing options in India
In terms of the availability of the Galaxy Note 8 in India is concerned, there is no official announcement from the company about the same. However, it is likely that the smartphone will be available to purchase exclusively from Amazon India. The pricing of the smartphone is likely to be around 69,900 and the handset could be announced in the country as early as next month.
