WhatsApp, the ever popular social messaging application which was bought by Facebook back in 2014 has been continuously adding new features to its platform. The platform has now been used by 1Billion users daily which was recently announced by the company in a blog post.

Talking about the statistics of usage on the platform, the company has also mentioned that its users share 55 billion messages daily on the platform. We should note that the company recently launched the ‘WhatsApp for Web’ platform which can be accessed via web.whatsapp.com. Apart from that, there is a PC application as well which has been made available for the Windows users.

The social-messaging platform has also seen various features being added to the platform. We recently saw the addition of a feature similar to Snapchat’s Status feature which shows the photos or videos added by the users for a period of 24 hours after which the status will disappear.

The feature is also available on WhatsApp’s parent company, Facebook, and its messenger application also. WhatsApp is always known for the simple-but-useful interface which has seen a very little change over the years. The material redesign of WhatsApp was also a very subtle one which has only added to the user-base on the platform.

Now, we have seen various features on WhatsApp which have added to ease of use for its users and the company is now testing one new feature which should be adding to the functionality of the application. This feature is the addition of a green tick mark next to the contacts which have been registered as Business.

Now, this feature was much anticipated for some time and we now have a much more valid reason to believe that this feature will indeed to be added to the application due to the mention of it in the WhatsApp FAQ.

The frequently-asked-questions(FAQ) page for WhatsApp now shows a page which has been titled as ‘Verified business accounts’. ┬áThis FAQ page explains the feature and its usage. The company explains that the WhatsApp accounts which have registered as Business Accounts will now get verified by WhatsApp. After the verification, the Business accounts will have a green tick mark next to them so that the users can be notified that it is a business account.

WhatsApp also mentions that if any user already has the Business contact for WhatsApp saved in their contacts then it will show them the saved name otherwise the Business contacts will have to choose a name which will be shown by default. Other than that, if you do not want any Business contacts to message you then you can block them inside the application.

The company has also noted that the feature is currently in the testing stage with the feature limited to a “small number of businesses participating in a pilot program”.
